Mindfulness and meditation are essential components of our programme, and we encourage everyone to join in. All of your clients will look forward to this part. It helps to reduce anxiety and stress, manage wellbeing and mental health and allows for rest and recovery by bringing the clients into a parasympathetic state.
The parsympathetic nervous system (PNS) is one of three divisions of the autonomic nervous system. It is sometimes called the rest and digest system, and it works to conserve energy as it slows the heart rate, increases intestinal and gland activity, and relaxes sphincter muscles in the gastrointestinal tract.
We use imagery techniques to stimulate the PNS.
Clients really benefit from breathing exercises, visualisations and body scans.
Ensure that the group has warmed down sufficiently to be able to make the most of this part of the session. Their breathing should have returned to a more normal, regular pattern and they should all be able to hold a conversation with you.,
Allow them to have time to have a drink of water and put something warmer on and get themselves into a comfortable position. This can be either on the floor or sitting in a full back rest position, with hands resting gently on the lap.
