Funded by Public Health England, iCareiMove are delighted to announce the re-launch of ReNeu Rehab – The Rehab online resource to support those with Neurological conditions and those with long Covid. Designed for restorative recovery.
What is ReNeu ReHab?
Reneu ReHab is a supportive movement program, now online and specifically designed to reach people who have neurological conditions including fibromyalgia, Parkinson’s Disease, stroke, spine and brain injuries, ME, MS and now seen to support those with long Covid.
Who are iCareiMove and how come they are delivering such a program?
iCareiMove formally known as Core Health, has delivered ReNeu in communities throughout Cornwall, previously funded by the NHS. They have previously worked with Oxford Brookes University to deliver excellent progressive movement patterns targeting physical improvements and using stress management techniques.
Passionate about making an impact
CEO Helen Tite of iCareiMove is deeply passionate about this work as she became a carer for her own father who suffered a severe stroke when Helen was 19. “In those days my Dad spent almost 2 years in hospital to help him recover from the stroke and then was sent home with the constant reminder that nothing else could be done to make improvements”. It was this attitude that inspired exercise therapist Helen to attempt to make changes to improve his quality of life. Helen would address scenarios such as getting dressed, getting ready to go to bed and even standing to transfer safely. She would break down the movements into bitesize chunks to make exercise more palatable.
Frequent visits to Dad enabled Helen to grow in knowledge and then take that experience to her personal training clients. Before long, Helen was working out of The Merlin Centre and various facilities using the ReNeu Method.
What has long Covid got to do with ReNeu?
The pandemic has changed our world considerably and we now see a strong connection between some of the long Covid symptoms and that of Fibromyalgia and MS. Fatigue and pacing being 2 of the biggest issues with getting back to normal after contracting Covid-19.
How Can ReNeu help you?
Firstly you are not alone. You may realise that the methods we offer are perfect for you. It is delivered online via Zoom and is also recorded for you to watch in your own time. In the weeks that follow, some sections of the class are progressive by which we mean, with repetition comes improvement. Every contact with the team counts. You will learn about pacing and will hear lots of supporting information to help you move forward in your rehabilitation.
