A major milestone for our mission to keep older adults moving, independent and confident, and a powerful step forward in reducing preventable falls across the UK.
After 20 years of delivering falls prevention programmes, iCareiMove has now been chosen as one of just five providers on the NHS Framework for Falls Prevention, Rehabilitation and Recovery Services through Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Out of all the providers who could have been selected, we’re one of five who will be working directly with NHS Trusts to deliver falls prevention programmes across England and Wales.
Falls are a major health crisis. According to the 2023 National Audit of Inpatient Falls, over 60,000 people sustained a femoral fracture from a fall in 2022 alone. More than 2,000 of these happened in inpatient settings. Broader research shows there are around 250,000 inpatient falls in English hospitals every year, putting immense strain on the NHS and resulting in avoidable injury, loss of independence, and increased care needs
But the impact goes far beyond the statistics. Every fall affects independence, confidence, and quality of life. It takes an emotional toll on families and carers. And it places enormous pressure on an already stretched healthcare system.
Falls prevention isn’t just about stopping accidents, it’s about helping people stay active, independent, and living life on their terms.
Under this framework, we’ll be working with NHS Trusts to provide comprehensive falls prevention, rehabilitation, and recovery services. Here’s what that looks like in practice:
All of it designed around one goal: reducing hospital admissions, preventing injuries, and helping older adults stay safe and active in their own homes and communities.
As our founder Helen Tite said:
“We are delighted to have been selected to deliver falls prevention services across the NHS. Being chosen as one of only five providers demonstrates the trust placed in our approach and our commitment to delivering programmes that truly make a difference. This work will enable us to extend our reach and impact, working alongside NHS Trusts to help more people remain safe, active, and independent.”
For over 20 years, we’ve believed that movement is at the centre of lifelong wellbeing. This framework allows us to bring that philosophy to more people who need it most, working at the heart of the NHS to address one of the biggest challenges in ageing and healthcare today.
