Move More is a 25-week falls prevention programme helping older adults improve strength, balance, and confidence to stay active and independent.
iCareiMove are working with Public Health Cornwall Council to provide a 3-year falls prevention and functional fitness MOT programme across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, to prevent falls in older adults. The programme, called Move More, consists of a rolling model of 25-week falls management exercise and education sessions delivered free of charge to adults who meet the criteria.
The criteria include being an adult 65 years+, having either a fear of falling, having experienced a fall, or being unsteady on their feet, and being a resident of Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly.
Falls don’t just affect mobility—they can reduce confidence, increase isolation, and impact overall health. The key word is prevention. Once a person experiences their first fall, they can become trapped in the Falls Cycle. A fall will knock the confidence, leading to a fear of falling again. To prevent another fall, people will avoid or reduce activity which leads to decreased muscle strength and balance, thus increasing the risk of a fall.
Furthermore, those who are unsteady on their feet tend to adjust their gait to compensate for other factors. For example, poor vision or wearing varifocals will lead to staring down at the floor, resulting in a head tipped forward and a higher centre of gravity causing instability thus increasing the likelihood of a fall.
There is no cost to the individual to participate in any of the above programme delivery models.
The council have specified the locations of the Face-to-Face and Livestream classes as:
Individuals attending the Face-to-Face classes will be in classes of no more than 14 people with 2 qualified instructors per class. Adults attending the Face-to-Face classes must be able to walk into the class independently, using walking aids if needed.
The live-streamed classes are accessed by a Zoom link, so participants can exercise in the comfort of their own home, or with peer support and volunteers at a community hub. Both seated and standing options of all the exercises are shown, to suit all abilities. The sessions are recorded and emailed back to participants weekly so they can be followed at a different time if they have an appointment or for weekly homework.
iCareiMove are working closely with Cornwall Council’s Digital Inclusion project and the Digital Together project, to support participants with accessing loan devices (tablets or laptops), accessing digital skills training to learn how to use Zoom and other skills, and with troubleshooting and support on existing devices, such as advising which cable will connect their tablet to their television so that the class can be followed on larger screen or signal boosters to help with live-streaming in areas of poor connectivity.
Our 25 week Move More programme is delivered through a choice of either face to face or online sessions. Each format provides expert-led support to help older adults build strength, improve balance and regain confidence. New courses are starting soon in various locations and online, so check availability or get in touch to find the right option for you.
Our On-Demand Digital programme is available all year round.

The instructors have been wonderful. I can now access all areas of my garden where there are steps which I did not think I could achieve. I am approaching stairs and steps with more confidence.
